I get asked all the time what my favorite restaurants & dessert places in Chinatown are so I wanted to share My Top 5 list with you! It used to live in an Excel spreadsheet with wayyyyy more detail but I hope you still find this helpful:
Nyonya
All the noodle dishes are great but personal faves are:
Prawn Mee
Scrambled Egg Seafood Noodle
Malaysian style string beans and shrimp
Spicy Thai Chicken (not actually spicy, it’s a special sauce)
Roti
S.Wan Cafe
Local Hong Kong Style meals for cheap; EVERYTHING HERE IS GOOD
Order:
Mushroom Chicken over fried rice is my go-to
Breakfast combos
Red bean ice
Congee Village
Best for family style Chinese food
Order:
House Special Chicken
Fish Maw Seafood Soup
Seafood Fried Rice
Chicken Lo Mein
Fried tofu
Joe’s Shanghai
Tourist trap but this place has the best crab/pork soup dumplings ever
Scallion pancake
Peking style minced pork noodle
NOTE: They already include tip in your bill (look for “service charge”)
Everything else is overpriced so if you want real Chinese food, go to Congee Village instead
Pho Grand / Pho Vietnam
Pho
Beef cubes over rice
Shrimp summer rolls
Pork and spring roll vermicelli
Desserts
Mango Mango
Alimama (mochi donuts)
Taiyaki (instagram worthy fish ice cream cones)
Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (infamous ice cream place with MANY choices)
Boba Guys (jasmine green tea boba with milk is my fave!)
