Top 5 Chinatown, NYC Restaurants + Desserts

I get asked all the time what my favorite restaurants & dessert places in Chinatown are so I wanted to share My Top 5 list with you! It used to live in an Excel spreadsheet with wayyyyy more detail but I hope you still find this helpful:

  • All the noodle dishes are great but personal faves are:

    • Prawn Mee

    • Scrambled Egg Seafood Noodle

  • Malaysian style string beans and shrimp

  • Spicy Thai Chicken (not actually spicy, it’s a special sauce)

  • Roti

S.Wan Cafe

  • Local Hong Kong Style meals for cheap; EVERYTHING HERE IS GOOD

  • Order:

    • Mushroom Chicken over fried rice is my go-to

    • Breakfast combos

    • Red bean ice

  • Order:

    • House Special Chicken

    • Fish Maw Seafood Soup

    • Seafood Fried Rice

Joe’s Shanghai

  • Tourist trap but this place has the best crab/pork soup dumplings ever

  • Scallion pancake

  • Peking style minced pork noodle

  • NOTE: They already include tip in your bill (look for “service charge”)

  • Pork and spring roll vermicelli

Desserts
